Amberon commits to ‘earn and learn’ by joining The 5% Club

Amberon, a leading traffic management provider has showcased its commitment to developing its people by joining The 5% Club, an industry led initiative focussed on driving momentum into the recruitment of apprentices, graduates and sponsored students.

The 5% Club, initiated by Leo Quinn Group Group CEO of Balfour Beatty in 2013, is a movement of more than 300 employers providing ‘earn and learn’ opportunities to develop the skills and talents people need to become more employable and create meaningful careers. Companies joining The 5% Club commit to raising the number of apprentices, sponsored students and graduates on formal programmes to 5% of their total workforce within five years. Members are also asked to publicly report their progress in their Annual Report. Existing members range from SMEs to FTSEs and cover a number of diverse industries, from engineering through to the legal sector.

Amberon have decided to join the 5% club because they believe in developing their employees and giving people a genuine career that they can progress within. The 5% club shares their commitment to training and development and they want to continue to improve the number of people they have on recognised apprenticeship and training schemes in order to further their personal and professional development.

Currently Amberon offer opportunities for people that are new to Traffic Management and train them in nationally recognised Lantra accredited qualifications. They also recruit experienced people and develop them further for example with LGV apprenticeships. These development opportunities at all stages of employees’ careers is a reflection on Amberon’s commitment to and investment in their people.

Christina Scant, Group HR Manager, said:

“We are proud to be part of the 5% club and are very close to having 5% of our employees on a formal apprenticeship scheme already. Our commitment to training and development is reflected in the quality of our staff and the service they provide. We are proud of our people and feel they deserve that investment to help them progress within our business.”

Gill Cronin, Director of Operations of The 5% Club said:

“We’re delighted to welcome Amberon into membership. The 5% Club provides a fantastic network of HR professionals, sharing and learning from each other. All our members share an ethos of creating a skilled workforce through ‘earn and learn’ development programmes, helping people develop meaningful career paths.”

Amberon provide apprenticeships across their business functions and plan to create future opportunities via the kick start scheme and new apprenticeship schemes they are developing in conjunction with industry stake holders.
