Some key deliverables Amberon has already achieved include;

  • The development of its first “Green depot” This is an ambitious project that will set the template for all depots going forward and will be Amberon’s first carbon neutral depot.
  • Introduced a new telematics system across its fleet. The system has the capability to provide data on; Fuel Usage, Idle Time, Engine Hours, Mileage Driven, Fleet Utilization and Vehicle Efficiency. By using this data Amberon can compare data sets against other customers to benchmark overall performance. The vehicle data that is gathered enables the system to monitor fuel used in direct relation to mileage undertaken and engine running time, thus providing accurate MPG figures for each vehicle. From this Amberon can now view and influence driver behaviour on fuel efficiency.
  • By adopting the circular economy model Amberon has already significantly reduced the amount of waste that is delivered to its depots, an example being the standard plastic traffic management equipment used, e.g. barriers and cones, now being sourced from suppliers who make the equipment from 90% recyclable materials whilst all waste products as a result of business activities is now 100% recycled via another provider. Another example is Amberon’s PPE supplier who now delivers products in biodegradable packaging with 82% of the traditional packaging associated with the products now removed at source. Finally, by engaging with a specialist waste recycling provider, Amberon’s waste to landfill has reduced by 23%, with company recycle rates now at 98%.
  • Incorporated fully electric and hybrid vehicles in all categories of its company car fleet.
  • Where Amberon has control of its energy supply, the company has ensured it comes from 100% renewable energy such as wind, sun and water.
  • Become Gold members of the Supply Chain sustainability school.
